Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation' is a very impressive hybrid Flowering Onion. It produces a tuft of large, strap-shaped leaves, with a strong stem 3' or so high holding a ball up to 6" across of many small purple starry flowers over quite a long period. Makes a useful cut flower as well as an impressive plant for the back of the border, and the seedhead can also be used in dried flower arrangements.
