Aubrieta x cultorum hybrids are perhaps the most well-known and popular spring-flowering plants. They make neat mounds of colour, with plants growing to only 4" or so in height, but spreading over a foot, making them ideal ground-cover or for growing over walls. They come in all shades of mauve, pink, blue, and the occasional white, with single or semi-double flowers, make a colourful carpet in all types of soil.

Seed Pod The seed pod is a long, thin pod, opening into two parts with a papery membrane between them.
Seed The seeds are small dark brown balls. There are several seeds in a seedpod.
Seedling The seedling is large and fast-growing. The first true leaves are pointed, often with a dark stem.
Seed sowing and Germination Winter: Seeds sown inside in winter germinated in 10 days.
Seeds sown outside in winter germinated in 12-23 days.
