Iberis umbellata is a popular and easily-grown annual, and is particularly useful for providing colourful ground cover in poor soil. It reaches a height of about a foot, with dense heads of tiny flowers in all shades of pink and mauve, or white, in summer.

Harvesting and Growing from Seed:

Seed Pod

Each individual flower produces a flat rounded seedpod with a point at the end, which together form a papery seedhead. Each seedpod has two parts, with a papery membrane between them.

Seed

The seeds are flattish oval discs. There are two seeds in each seedpod.

Seedling

The seedleaves are rounded. The first true leaves are pointed.

Seed sowing and Germination

Spring: Seeds sown inside in spring germinated in 7 days.
